DEHRADUN DIARIES
So, at last settled in Dehradun for 3 years to
pursue my BA degree in public policy and administration with civil service coaching embedded in the
University of petroleum and energy studies. Registration was done on 27th of July,
2015. After receiving my UPES id, I finally became a student of UPES. UPES has two campuses, one in Bidoli and the
other in Kandoli, a 3 Km distance from each other. Various Engineering courses are offered by the University under College of
Engineering Studies, Bidoli and the
Legal studies and management courses are offered under College of Legal Studies and College of
management studies Kandoli respectively. So, I was allotted a hostel
room in the kandoli campus itself as my course falls under management with two other roommates. At first, I was
quite confused rather scared thinking of the roommates but as soon as I met
them, I was quite easy with them and both of them were very generous and friendly.
One is from Patna, Bihar and the other is from Rohtak, Haryana.
For the first time I was staying in a hostel and was not
used to the rules and regulations of the hostel and the mess but luckily I
managed to keep myself well in the hostel environment. Gradually I met my other
class mates in the hostel and was quite satisfied with them. They accepted me
as a good friend of theirs and I felt like I have known them from years.
So classes of PEP(Personality Enhancement Program) got
started from the next day and I was very excited to attend my first college
classes. We have a very small batch of 13 students as the course is new and tough but all of them
are the best of the best. We introduced each other and had a lovely and
memoriable first day. Mrs. Kaveri
Chawla, was conducting the classes and we had four day session with her and
those four days were the best classes I
have ever attended.
We were taught with soft skill matters like art of speaking,
art of writing, formal gestures, MUN, G40 summit etc. Various vocabulary
enhancement activities were too conducted to test our voc. skills and those
four days were the life changing classes for us. We were basically given the
training of how to keep up in a corporate world and mingle with those
situations. I was indeed very lucky to attend such classes which I always
dreamt of. No matter what I learnt, what I grabbed but something muttered
inside me that I have taken the best decision by selecting this
University.
Now, its being more than two week here and now I am quite
used to the hostel and the classes. Not only
classes we are provided with every possible facilities a university can
provide. The university is trying their level best to give us the best they can
and yes! they have . They have even organised interactive sessions with CEO s
of top companies, civil servants, management gems etc. The best part of this
course is that they are providing us professional civil service coaching along
with our normal classes.
The thought of " whether I have taken the right
decision?" , Yes! I have taken the right decision and it better be.
